Dear Sir,
First, I
would like to thank you for your service to California’s students and for
having their best interest in mind.
I’m writing
to you as a concerned parent with ___________ in the _______________ public school
system.
I would like
to express my concerns regarding the subjects they are studying, specifically
world history. As a parent of child(ren)
of South Korean heritage I feel it is important that the world history
textbooks they are reading are up to date and reflect positively on their
cultural heritage. I understand that
with California’s past budget crisis and cuts to funding for education that
updating textbooks has been put on hold.
Now that California’s economic recovery is getting stronger, I would
like to request that we put more emphasis on updating our textbooks to reflect
the dynamic and positive contributions that countries like South Korea are
making in the world.
I hope that
my child(ren) and their classmates can learn about the wonderful history and
contributions that many countries like South Korea make to our global economy.
Any
assistance that you can provide to ensure that our world history textbooks are
up to date and up to California’s high standards is greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
